RGV served second notice over morphed images of AP CM Naidu & Dy CM Pawan Kalyan
Hyderabad: Film director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has been issued another notice by the Maddipadu police in Prakasam district after a case was filed against him for posting morphed images of political figures on social media.
Ram Gopal Varma was initially asked to appear for questioning on November 20, 2024, but he requested additional time due to his film commitments. As a result, Ongole Rural Circle Inspector (CI) Srikanth sent a second notice through WhatsApp, instructing RGV to appear at the Ongole Rural police station on November 25, 2024.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Ramalingam, accusing Varma of defaming Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh.
The case, which was registered on November 12, 2024, follows RGV’s alleged posting of altered images of the leaders on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The complaint also refers to comments made by Varma during promotional activities for his film Vyuham, which were considered derogatory toward the political figures.
The case has been filed under Sections 336(4) and 353(2) of the BNS Act, and Section 67 of the Information Technology (IT) Act, which addresses the dissemination of objectionable content online.
