News in short:
Hyderabad Metro Rail officials, led by Managing Director NVS Reddy, inspected survey works for a new metro corridor connecting Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to the under-construction Skill University at Meerkhanpet. This 40km long corridor will be built as part of the "Future City" project, envisioned as a green and pollution-free city. The corridor will be built on an elevated line for most of its length, passing through key locations like Shamshabad, Bahadurguda, Pedda Golconda, and Tukkuguda, before transitioning to ground level for the final stretch. The route will feature two attractive stations at Bahadurguda and Pedda Golconda, and will run alongside the proposed Green Field Road, utilizing the existing infrastructure for efficient development. The project aims to connect the airport to the new city and facilitate its development, making it a key component of the Future City vision.

Hyderabad: As part of their effort to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Metro Rail projects in the Future City, a team official led by the Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy on Sunday carried out an inspection of the survey works for the metro corridor from the airport to the under-construction Skill University at Meerkhanpet.

The metro corridor from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to the Future City via Shamshabad will be nearly 40 km long, said NVS Reddy and added that the distance will be covered in 40 minutes.

“It will start from the airport terminal, pass alongside the proposed metro rail depot in the airport area, follow the boundary wall of the airport for about 5 kilometers along Mansanpally Road and reach Pedda Golconda ORR Exit,” the managing director of Hyderabad Metro Rail said in a press release.

Reddy stated that the chief minister Revanth Reddy wants to develop Future City as the ‘Fourth City’ after Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad. He added that the objective is to make it a pollution-free green city.

He further stated that two “highly attractive” metro stations are being planned at Bahadurguda and Pedda Golconda on the 1,500 acres of government land available at Bahadurguda. The metro route will continue as an elevated metro line for nearly 14 km from the Pedda Golconda exit to Tukkuguda exit along the ORR and then continue to Raviryala exit.

The metro route will then continue ‘at grade’ from Raviryala exit to the under-construction Skill University at Meerkhanpet and it will be developed via Kongara Kalan, Lemur, Timmapur, Rachalur, Gummadavelli, and Panjaguda.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is constructing a Green Field Road in the region. The metro rail will run in the middle of the road which will have three-lane main carriageways on both sides and additional service roads adjacent to the main carriageway.
