Varuna Yagam to be held at Nagarjuna Sagar on August 10
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has decided to perform a Varuna Yagam at Nagarjuna Sagar on August 10, seeking abundant rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season in Telangana.
Priests, Vedic scholars and astrologers from the Yadagirigutta temple have identified August 10 as the auspicious day for the ritual. Revanth Reddy will participate in the Purnahuti, the concluding offering of the Yagam, on the same day.
Ritual to be conducted under Endowments Department supervision
The Varuna Yagam will be held at the Vijaya Vihar premises on the banks of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam. Priests and Vedic scholars from the Yadagirigutta temple will conduct the rituals under the supervision of the State Endowments Department at the designated auspicious time.
Special prayers for river inflows and agricultural prosperity
Special prayers will be offered for good inflows into the Krishna and Godavari rivers and water bodies across the state. The prayers will also seek a favourable monsoon for agriculture and the well-being of the livestock sector.
The Yagam will be organised under the leadership of Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
