HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday urged Maoist leader Ganapathi to surrender and join the mainstream. He said the government would provide medical care and security if he comes forward.

CM calls for return to mainstream life

Speaking at the Future City Police Commissionerate foundation ceremony, the Chief Minister said Ganapathi’s health was reported to be poor. “If he surrenders, we will ensure treatment and protection. The government will address his issues,” he said.

He appealed to all Maoists in hiding to return to normal life and work towards resolving public issues. “True development is achieved only when everyone becomes part of it,” he added.

Rehabilitation push for surrendered Maoists

The government has initiated measures to provide livelihood under a rehabilitation scheme. Twenty former Maoists from Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts have been trained as ‘Giri Darshak Guides’.

They will be deployed in forest, tourism and endowments departments. Each recruit will receive a monthly salary of ₹10,000 and a uniform.

The trained guides will assist tourists in Bhadrachalam, Kinnerasani, Mulugu and Karregutta regions.

The Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to the 20 recruits at the event. He said the government would ensure health support and a stable future for those who surrender.
