HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday thanked Argentine football icon Lionel Messi for participating in a friendly match at Uppal Stadium, calling it a moment of pride for Hyderabad and the state’s youth.

In a post on X, Revanth Reddy expressed gratitude to Messi, describing him as the G.O.A.T, and also thanked footballers Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul for accepting the invitation and inspiring young sports enthusiasts in the city.

“By hosting this event, we have shown the world that Telangana stands for sports, excellence and hospitality,” the chief minister said. He also thanked Rahul Gandhi for joining the programme and making the evening a lifelong memory for fans.

Revanth Reddy acknowledged the efforts of officials from various departments, security personnel, organisers and staff deployed across the city for the smooth conduct of the event. On behalf of the state government, he also thanked visiting players, sports lovers and fans.

Delhi visit

Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy left for Delhi on Saturday along with Rahul Gandhi from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad. His schedule in the national capital is packed.

The chief minister will attend a mega rally in Delhi on Sunday against alleged vote theft.
