Revanth Reddy to campaign for six days from February 4

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will undertake a six-day tour of several districts from February 4 to 9 as part of the Congress campaign for the municipal elections scheduled on February 11.
During the tour, the Chief Minister will address a series of public meetings to mobilise support for the party and to register protest against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government’s decision to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme as Viksit Bharat Gram Rozgar Guarantee.
Official sources said a tentative schedule has been drawn up and will be finalised after the Chief Minister returns from his United States trip on February 2.
According to the programme, Revanth Reddy will cover six undivided districts over six days. He will begin the campaign on February 4 in Nalgonda district with a public meeting at Miryalaguda.
On February 5, he is scheduled to tour Karimnagar district and address a gathering at Choppadandi. His February 6 programme includes Nizamabad district, where a meeting is planned in a rural segment.
On February 7, the Chief Minister will be in Rangareddy district and speak at Parigi. The campaign will continue on February 8 in Warangal district with a public meeting at Bhupalpally.
On the final day, February 9, he will visit Medak district and address a public meeting there.
Congress leaders said the Chief Minister’s extensive outreach was expected to give a significant boost to the party’s campaign ahead of the municipal polls. They added that the tour would also highlight the party’s opposition to the Centre’s move on the MGNREGA scheme, which they described as an attack on rural employment guarantees.
