Revanth puts disputed private land under Section 22A at 3 lakh acres

Revanth Puts Disputed Private Land Under Section 22a At 3.05 Lakh Acres

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has put the extent of disputed private land under Section 22A at about 3.05 lakh acres. He rejected BRS and BJP claims that the Congress government had placed one crore acres under the prohibited list, as reported by DC.

At the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Thursday, Revanth Reddy asked ministers and Congress MLAs to present the figures in the Assembly. The Assembly will debate properties under the Section 22A prohibited list on Friday, party sources said.

According to the sources, Revanth Reddy said the Bhu Bharati portal had notified 2.5 crore acres. However, he said a large portion belonged to categories that are inherently prohibited from registration.

These include about 46 lakh acres of forest land, 26 lakh acres of assigned land and 17 lakh acres of government land. Another 12 lakh acres cover irrigation projects, water bodies and shikam lands.

Together, these categories account for about 1.01 crore acres. Revanth Reddy said these lands would remain under Section 22A permanently. Landowners cannot transact such properties through the Bhu Bharati registration module, he said.

By contrast, disputed private land accounts for only about 3.05 lakh acres, according to the chief minister. These cases involve competing claims by the government and individuals.

The government has invited applications from claimants. Officials are examining each case by checking revenue records.

Revanth Reddy accused the BRS and BJP of mixing up prohibited government land with disputed private properties. As a result, he said, the Opposition had created unnecessary concern among landowners.

CM attacks BRS over Assembly disruption, Erravelli incident

Revanth Reddy also spoke about recent incidents involving BRS leaders at the Assembly gate and at BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s farmhouse in Erravelli.

He said a flash survey commissioned by him showed growing public anger against the BRS. At the same time, he claimed that the party’s political standing was declining while the Congress was gaining ground.

The chief minister criticised the disruption of Assembly proceedings. He alleged that BRS leaders made abusive remarks against police officials and the Speaker.

He also criticised the “purification” of roads at Erravelli after Dalits held protests there. Revanth Reddy said the government had ordered inquiries into the incidents.

He praised Congress legislators for countering what he described as Opposition attempts to disrupt the government.

CM warns MLAs over performance and re-election

Revanth Reddy asked Congress MLAs to maintain full attendance during the Assembly session. He also urged them to take part in debates and raise issues related to their constituencies.

Importantly, he warned that an MLA’s performance and conduct would influence their chances of securing a ticket in the next election.

On the caste census, Revanth Reddy asked Congress legislators to press the Centre to adopt Telangana’s model nationwide.

Meanwhile, he asked them to take the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls seriously. He alleged that there were attempts to delete one crore voters in Telangana.

Revanth Reddy said the country’s adult population had been estimated at 103 crore. In comparison, he said electoral rolls contained only 88 crore voters.

He alleged that 15 crore votes had gone missing. Therefore, he urged legislators seeking re-election to remain vigilant and protect voting rights.

Finally, the chief minister thanked Congress legislators for supporting the government during its first 1,000 days. He said the Assembly session would highlight the government’s development and welfare programmes.
