MEDARAM: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy  announced that the state government would release sufficient funds for the development of the Sammakka-Saralamma temple at Medaram, considered one of the largest tribal pilgrimage centres in Asia.

Reviewing development plans with temple officials, priests and people’s representatives, Revanth Reddy directed the authorities to constitute a dedicated team of officials to complete the works within 100 days.

The chief minister stressed that tribal culture, traditions and beliefs must be respected in all aspects of the temple’s expansion. He also suggested stone structures that can withstand natural disasters and instructed irrigation officials to construct check dams and conserve Jampanna Vagu to ensure water availability for the temple.

“The deities Sammakka and Saralamma are symbols of struggle. I have been visiting this temple since I was elected as an MLA. It is our responsibility to preserve history and tribal heritage for future generations,” Revanth Reddy said.
