Revanth Reddy directs tenders for Mir Alam Tank bridge, fast-tracks Musi rejuvenation

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to speed up the Musi River Rejuvenation Project. During a review meeting held at the Command Control Center on Friday, he discussed the proposed designs for the Gandhi Sarovar at Bapu Ghat and the bridge over the Mir Alam Tank.
The Chief Minister instructed that tenders for the bridge construction be called in June. He also emphasized the need for preparing necessary surveys, reports, and proposals for the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Key officials, including Government Advisors V. Narender Reddy, Srinivasaraju, Municipal Department Principal Secretary Danakishore, and Musi River Development Corporation Joint Managing Director Gautami, participated in the meeting. The officials presented a PowerPoint presentation outlining the proposed design for the bridge, with the Chief Minister stressing the importance of building the 2.5-kilometer-long bridge to high safety standards for visitors and travelers.
In addition to the bridge, the Chief Minister suggested beautifying three island-like areas in the Mir Alam Tank to enhance tourism. He proposed developing these islands with features such as Birds Paradise and Waterfalls, similar to Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay.
The design should also include facilities like convention centers, adventure parks, theme parks, amphitheaters, resorts, hotels, and boating facilities for tourists.
The Chief Minister also called for the purification of the tank’s water and the inclusion of these proposals in the DPR. He recommended developing the island zone under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Further, the Chief Minister instructed officials to assess the water availability in the Mir Alam Tank and the impact of floodwaters in advance. He suggested consulting experts in hydrology and environmental fields and securing necessary permits based on their recommendations.
Along with the Mir Alam Bridge, the Chief Minister proposed connecting the island zone to the nearby Zoo Park. He called for the development plans for the zoo to be upgraded in line with these new proposals. Discussions with zoo authorities will be held to explore possible upgrades and attract more visitors.
