Revanth Reddy opposes traffic curbs for convoy

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed police not to inconvenience the public during his official movements and expressed anger over traffic restrictions imposed for his convoy on Wednesday.
While travelling to Shamshabad airport for his Delhi visit, the Chief Minister noticed that police had stopped not only heavy vehicles but also cars and two-wheelers for convoy movement. He instructed Director General of Police (DGP) C V Anand to ensure that commuters were not stranded on roads for long periods during VIP visits.
Chief Minister seeks action against officials
Revanth Reddy questioned why vehicles were stopped not only on the convoy route but also on roads in the opposite direction. He ordered strict action against officials responsible for negligence in traffic management during his movement.
The Chief Minister said ordinary people’s work should not be disrupted because of convoy arrangements.
Single-line traffic system for convoys
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, DGP C V Anand conducted a video conference with police commissioners across the state. He said repeated concerns raised by the Chief Minister reflected the seriousness of traffic issues and asked field-level officers to treat the matter with urgency.
The DGP announced that a Traffic Bureau would be established under an Additional Director General of Police to improve traffic regulation across Telangana.
He instructed officials not to impose complete traffic restrictions during convoy movement and instead allow vehicles through a single-lane system. Police were also directed to prepare alternative diversion routes during peak traffic hours.
Focus on airport traffic and monsoon preparedness
C V Anand asked officials to remain highly alert in airport surroundings and take preventive steps in waterlogging-prone areas ahead of the monsoon to avoid traffic congestion. He instructed traffic officers to stay in the field and take quick decisions when required.
The DGP also directed police to prevent illegal parking on the Outer Ring Road and asked traffic officials to coordinate with the City Security Wing and Intelligence Security Wing during VVIP movements. Law and order personnel were also asked to assist in traffic regulation.
Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri police commissioners, along with senior officials including V C Sajjanar, Chandana Deepti, Road Safety Inspector General Ramesh Naidu, Intelligence Security Wing OSD Kamalasan Reddy and Chief Minister’s security officer Chakravarthi, attended the video conference.
