Telangana CM Revanth Reddy addressing voters on Jubilee Hills by-election, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy urged voters in Jubilee Hills to cast their votes with discretion, appealing to them to judge the government based on visible development.

Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, he questioned what the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had done for Jubilee Hills in the past decade. Hyderabad, he said, had progressed only under Congress rule.

Revanth Reddy alleged that there had been no major development in the city since 2014 and asked voters to compare the Congress and BRS regimes before making their decision. “Hyderabad grew as a global city under Congress rule,” he said, adding that the Congress had established key educational institutions and initiated major infrastructure projects.

He criticised Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for “remaining silent” when temples and mosques inside the old Secretariat were demolished. “Congress decisions turned Hyderabad into an international city. When Congress was in power, the city served as the state’s growth engine,” he said.

The Chief Minister accused former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) of handing over ₹8.11 lakh crore debt to the current government, despite inheriting a surplus budget in 2014. “From 2004 to 2014, Hyderabad’s brand image grew significantly. What have Modi, KCR and Kishan Reddy done for Hyderabad’s growth since 2014?” he asked.

Revanth also mocked KCR for using Pragathi Bhavan “as a personal retreat” and questioned whether the complex benefited the public. “Was the new Secretariat built according to Vastu for KCR’s comfort or for Telangana’s welfare?” he asked, alleging that not one new job was created because of the new building.

He accused KCR of installing CCTV cameras outside opposition leaders’ homes through the Command Control Centre and even having “bulletproof bathrooms.” “In the past ten years, what vision have KCR, Modi and Kishan Reddy offered for Telangana?” he asked.

Revanth further alleged that Union Minister Kishan Reddy and BRS leader K T Rama Rao (KTR) were blocking Telangana’s development, including metro expansion, Musi River rejuvenation and future city projects. “We are preparing a Telangana Vision 2047 document,” he said.

He blamed KCR and KTR for the debts of ₹10,000 crore incurred by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and for the financial distress of L&T. “They blackmailed L&T and looted crores,” he alleged, asserting that the Congress introduced the city’s flyover network.

Revanth accused KCR of “selling” the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and constructing the new Secretariat and Command Control Centre only for luxury. “Did KCR build even one new airport in ten years?” he asked.

He also ridiculed the Kaleshwaram project collapse, saying ₹1 lakh crore had been “washed away in the Godavari.” Revanth concluded by saying Hyderabad residents were calling KTR and his associates the “bad brothers” of the city.
