Revanth Reddy flags delimitation concerns, seeks joint southern stand

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will reach Parliament amid the ongoing session and the intensifying row over delimitation. He has raised concerns about its impact on southern states.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Reddy warned that the proposed exercise could reduce the political weight of southern states.
He said a population-based seat allocation would penalise states that successfully controlled population growth. Such a move, he argued, would create an imbalance in representation.
Reddy also wrote to the chief ministers of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry. He urged them to adopt a united stand.
He called for a joint effort to ensure a fair and balanced delimitation process.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for collective discussions among southern states. He said this would help protect their interests and ensure equitable representation in Parliament.
The debate over delimitation has intensified in recent weeks, with several leaders raising concerns about its impact on federal balance and regional equity.
