HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday proposed the construction of multi-level car parking facilities in Hyderabad, urging the city’s traffic police and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to address parking challenges. He also advocates for the formulation of a specialized parking policy to systematically tackle the issue.
During a traffic review meeting at the Telangana Secretariat on Wednesday, the Chief Minister delved into measures to tackle congestion in the GHMC area. He proposed assigning consultancies responsibilities and conducting a specialized study.
He also asked the traffic police and GHMC to draft a comprehensive strategy for effective traffic control and management that is aligned with Hyderabad’s future developmental demands.
Highlighting the significance of traffic control in Greater Hyderabad, the Chief Minister prioritised the recruitment of additional home guards within three months to address the shortage of traffic personnel. He recommended redirecting home guards from different departments to the traffic department promptly for enhanced traffic control duties.

To manage peak-hour traffic effectively, the Chief Minister advised deploying Law and Order police and upgrading existing traffic police stations, along with a call for reorganizing police stations to ensure adequate staffing.
Directing officials to ensure the presence of traffic personnel at all junctions and high-traffic areas, the Chief Minister suggested coordination among police officers from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda commissionerates, as well as Municipal Zonal Commissioners.
