Revanth Reddy Meeting Mallikarjun Kharge In Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge in Hyderabad on Sunday. The leaders discussed the Congress party’s preparations for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls announced by the Election Commission. They also reviewed recent political developments in Telangana.

Congress Focuses on Electoral Roll Revision

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy briefed Kharge on steps the party is taking to prevent the wrongful deletion of voters’ names. He explained the Congress strategy for monitoring the revision process across the state.

The Chief Minister said party leaders and workers would closely monitor the work of booth-level officers (BLOs). Congress will also activate its booth-level network to protect voter rights during the exercise.

Concerns Over Vulnerable Communities

Revanth Reddy expressed concern about the possible impact of the revision process on Lambadas, Adivasis and migrant workers.

He pointed out that migration from several constituencies could result in the removal of genuine voters from electoral rolls. He stressed the need for extra vigilance to ensure eligible voters remain on the rolls.

The Chief Minister also warned that women, Dalits and minorities could lose their voting rights if authorities fail to monitor the process carefully.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud accompanied Revanth Reddy.

Organisational Matters on the Agenda

The meeting took place at a hotel near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad. Kharge stayed there briefly before leaving for Gulbarga.

The discussion lasted more than 30 minutes. It gained significance as the Congress government in Telangana prepares to complete half of its five-year term on June 7.

Plans to Strengthen the Congress Organisation

Revanth Reddy also updated Kharge on the resolutions adopted at the recent Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting. These decisions aim to strengthen the party organisation across Telangana.

He informed the AICC president that ministers serving as constituency in-charges must spend one full day every 10 days on party activities. They will also interact directly with grassroots workers.

In addition, Revanth Reddy said he would spend one day every 10 days in the field meeting party workers. He also plans to dedicate three days each month to organisational affairs.

Welfare Initiatives and Future Plans

Party sources said the leaders reviewed the state government’s welfare and development initiatives during the meeting.

Revanth Reddy also outlined Congress efforts to expand and strengthen its organisational structure across Telangana.
