Residents, activists demand action on against chemical pollution crisis in Auto Nagar

AUTO NAGAR: In a significant demonstration, hundreds of Auto Nagar residents staged a protest on Sunday, decrying chemical pollution in their vicinity and its adverse effects on the nearby park and surrounding colonies.
The residents raised concerns about chemical pollution adversely impacting Mahavir Vanasthali National Park in Vanasthalipuram, resulting in severe harm to nearby trees, wildlife, and humans. They reported the distressing consequences, including the death of 5,000 trees, over 500 Blackbucks and cheetal deer, the disappearance of various bird species, and groundwater contamination affecting ten nearby colonies.
Protestors highlighted that over 25,000 residents are facing respiratory risks due to exposure to toxic chemicals. The Autonagar Chemical Smell crisis has evolved into a heart-wrenching tragedy, casting devastating consequences on the environment and the well-being of local residents. The once-vibrant Harina Vanasthali National Park now bears the mark of a 15-acre chemical lake, a consequence of an illegal pipeline laid by TSIIC and IALA two years ago, claimed the residents.
Prominent environmental NGOs, including Hyderabad Cycling Revolution, Visva Sustainable Foundation, Dhruvansh Foundation, Techieride, VWOLFS Foundation, Animal Warriors Conservation Society, environmentalists, and local colony associations, actively participated in the protest.
The protestors advocated for swift relief from chemical pollution and demanded immediate action, emphasizing the urgent laying of a pipeline from the chemical lake to Sahara to effectively address and resolve this pressing environmental crisis.
