Eight held by Rein Bazar Police for murder of Falaknuma rowdy-sheeter ahead of wedding

Hyderabad: The Rein Bazar Police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the brutal murder of Mohammed Masiuddin, also known as Masi, a well-known rowdy-sheeter from Falaknuma. The incident occurred late at night on April 13 near Yadagir Theatre in Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad. Masiuddin, who was to be married on April 19, was attacked and killed on the spot.
The investigation revealed that the murder was premeditated and carried out due to previous enmity between the deceased and the accused. Those arrested have been identified as Mohammed Pasha Jeelani alias Sher, Mohd Omer Khan, Mohammed Arif Khan alias Khan, Mohammed Ghouse Uddin alias Sajji, Mohammed Tabrez alias Tabbu, Syed Ibrahim, Syed Basheer alias Basheer Khan, and Mohammed Abubakar alias Abbu.
The deceased, Mohammed Masiuddin, 27, son of Mohd. Gayas Mohiuddin, was a resident of Fatima Nagar, Falaknuma. He had a long criminal history and was a registered rowdy-sheeter with the Falaknuma Police Station. His rowdy sheet was originally opened by Rein Bazar Police in 2017 and later transferred to Falaknuma in 2023. In 2020, he was detained under the Preventive Detention Act. Masiuddin ran a salon at Puranapul and drove a Mahindra Thar SUV. Locally, he was known as “Masi Don.”
Among the accused, several have prior criminal records. Mohammed Pasha Jeelani, considered the main conspirator, was previously involved in a bodily offence case at Rein Bazar. Mohammed Tabrez has a pending attempt to murder case at Domalguda Police Station. Syed Ibrahim is an accused in a murder case at Chaderghat and is also a listed rowdy-sheeter. The rest of the accused are friends or associates of each other.
The motive for the murder stemmed from a confrontation during the holy month of Ramzan. On March 23, 2025, Mohd Omer Khan was selling watermelons near Dabeerpura Darwaza when Masiuddin allegedly demanded Rs. 20,000 from him to allow the business to continue, claiming, “Main don hoon, main rowdy-sheeter hoon, mereko dena padta.”
When Omer refused, an argument broke out, with Masiuddin threatening him and saying, “Tum log karbhuje katore, main tumhare sir kaatunga.”
Later that day, the argument escalated, and Masiuddin took Omer on his Activa to Dabeerpura flyover, where they fought. Mohammed Pasha Jeelani and Mohammed Arif Khan arrived at the scene and attempted to resolve the dispute. Pasha slapped both parties and urged them to avoid conflict during Ramzan.
Masiuddin, however, allegedly continued to threaten Omer, saying he would deal with him after Ramzan. That night, local elders tried to mediate the matter at New Ali Café, but tensions remained high.
The accused claimed they felt threatened by Masiuddin, who they believed was planning to attack them after his wedding. The group decided to act before that could happen. Three days before the murder, the eight men reportedly met and agreed to eliminate Masiuddin. They began monitoring his movements, knowing he often traveled through Dabeerpura in his Mahindra Thar.
On the night of April 13, the group gathered at the Dabeerpura flyover and later moved to the house of Mohammed Ghouse Uddin in Farhath Nagar, waiting for Masiuddin to pass by. When he didn’t appear, they went to Mohammed Arif Khan’s house near Dabeerpura to have dinner. While there, Omer called and informed the group that Masiuddin was spotted near Deluxe Medical Shop.
They rushed to the location and attacked him. Mohammed Arif Khan stabbed Masiuddin in the ribs and back, while Mohammed Ghouse Uddin stabbed him multiple times in the neck and right side of the torso. Mohammed Tabrez stabbed him on the face and neck, and Syed Ibrahim targeted his back and face.
Mohammed Pasha Jeelani held Masiuddin from behind to restrain him, while Omer, Syed Basheer, and Mohammed Abubakar assaulted him with their hands and legs. Masiuddin collapsed and died on the spot due to multiple injuries and heavy bleeding.
Police have seized four knives, two Honda Activa scooters, one Suzuki Burgman scooter, one Passion Plus motorcycle, and five mobile phones used in the planning and execution of the crime.
Acting on a tip-off, Rein Bazar Police apprehended all eight accused on April 15. They have been booked under Cr. No. 63/2025, Section 109 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and are being produced before the court.
The arrests were made under the supervision of N.N.S.V. Venkateshwara Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mirchowk Division. The investigation was led by L. Ramesh Naik, Inspector of Police, with support from Additional Inspector V. Madan Lal, Sub-Inspectors Sk. Nasrin Begum, B. Narasimha, K. Pavan Kumar, and the staff of Rein Bazar Police Station.
