Hyderabad police chief C.V. Anand optimistic on Red Corner notices in Phone tapping case

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand is hopeful of red corner notices against former SIB chief T.Prabhakar Rao and A.Shravan Kumar Rao soon. He made these comments at the annual review meeting of Hyderabad commissionerate.
Speaking on the phone tapping case, CV Anand said, “We are trying our best. It is an enormous process with many conditions to be fulfilled and various stakeholders are involved in it. They asked for clarification thrice, and we responded each time. Recently a team visited Delhi on the same issue. We are hopeful that the red corner will be issued at the earliest. Following which extradition requests and arrest warrants can be issued.”
The police investigating the phone tapping case arrested several police officials in connection with the case- Praneeth Rao Dugyala, Bhujanga Rao Nayini, Thirupathanna Mekala and Radhakishan Rao Potlapally. However, they couldn’t arrest two accused Prabhakar Rao Thatiparthi and Aruvela Shravan Kumar Rao.
Two accused, former SIB chief T.Prabhakar Rao and A.Shravan Kumar Rao, are still absconding. Prabhakar Rao Thatiparthi and Aruvela Shravan Kumar Rao have left the country and taken shelter in the USA in gross violation of the purpose of their visas.
It is to be noted that Telangana police urged CBI to request INTERPOL to issue a red corner notice. CBI, as National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, coordinates closely with all Indian law enforcement agencies over INTERPOL channels.INTERPOL hasn’t issued the Red corner notice.
The arrested accused are still in jail, except Bhujanga Rao Nayini, who was released on bail due to his medical condition. Further, all of them sought bail from the Telangana High Court, and their cases are pending.
It is alleged that after the then ruling party Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) lost the Assembly elections, all the accused formatted their phones. One accused, Dugyala Praneeth Kumar, damaged the hard disks of the Special Intelligence Branch’s computer systems, causing evidence to disappear. This resulted in the loss of sensitive data collected by the Police over decades to curb anti-social activities, consequently posing a serious threat to State security. Subsequently, a case was registered by Punjagutta police of Hyderabad commissionerate and a Special Investigation team was formed to investigate the case.
