HYDERABAD: Celebrations broke out across Hyderabad after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retained the Indian Premier League (IPL) title with a victory over Gujarat Titans in the final at Ahmedabad on Sunday.

RCB bowlers exploited a slow pitch effectively and restricted Gujarat Titans to 155 for eight, helping the Bengaluru franchise clinch its second consecutive IPL crown.

Fans across residential colonies burst crackers and organised celebrations late into the night. Large crowds also gathered at restaurants, cafés and community venues that hosted live screenings of the final.

At Hussainsagar, a popular meeting point for cricket enthusiasts, supporters assembled in large numbers to celebrate the victory. Several fans turned emotional as RCB lifted the trophy again.

Many supporters said the team had endured years of criticism despite consistently fielding competitive sides. “RCB winning back-to-back titles after waiting 18 years for their maiden trophy has given me immense happiness. Every season, the team came close and even reached the finals several times, but could not win the trophy,” said Sindhu.

Following the team’s maiden IPL title win last year, fans expressed confidence that RCB would defend the title this season.“I was confident from the start of the playoffs that RCB would win the title. It is delightful to see Virat Kohli leading from the front and helping the team lift the cup. From the beginning of this year’s IPL, the RCB players performed consistently well,” said RCB fan M. Manideep.
