Hydraa Chief Inspects Garbage Yard At Alwal, Accelerates Full Tank Level Resolution For City Lakes

Hyderabad: On April 8, 2025, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath spoke about the significance of determining the Full Tank Level (FTL) of lakes in the city to address various issues. He instructed officials to complete the process at the earliest.

Speaking to the media after inspecting the garbage dumping yard at Macha Bollaram crematorium in Alwal Mandal, Ranganath said that FTL determination would help resolve multiple concerns. He stressed the need to consider public objections and integrate information from relevant departments, along with technical expertise, in the process.

The commissioner directed the inclusion of a special column in the ‘Lake Enumeration’ app, currently being developed for FTL determination, allowing the public to submit their objections.

During the HYDRAA Prajavani program on Monday, Ranganath further highlighted the urgency of determining FTL, particularly in light of numerous public complaints. He pointed out that the continuous filling of soil on one side of the lakes and the ongoing inflow of sewage water were causing constant changes to the FTL boundaries. Therefore, swift action is required.

FTL determination is being carried out with the help of records from various departments, including revenue, village, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), GHMC, irrigation, Survey of India, and satellite images from the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC).

Ranganath also mentioned that a special expert committee had been formed to avoid misconceptions and ensure proper precautions are in place. Addressing public concerns, the commissioner noted several issues, including road obstructions between canals, illegal encroachments on land not adhering to old layout boundaries, and the sale of public utility land as private plots.

During the Prajavani program, a total of 57 complaints were received. Ranganath personally addressed these complaints and assigned responsibilities to the relevant officials for resolution.
