Broken AC coach window of Venkatadri Express after stone pelting near Thimmapur railway station

HYDERABAD: Some migrant workers allegedly pelted stones at the Venkatadri Express near Thimmapur railway station in Ranga Reddy district, damaging an AC coach window.

Migrants vacated from platform after complaints

According to officials, a group of migrant workers from northern states had been staying on the Thimmapur railway station platform for several days. They were cooking and living there, leading to unhygienic conditions and inconvenience to passengers.

Station staff asked them to vacate the platform. When the workers argued with railway staff, the matter was reported to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), which cleared the platform.

Drunken group attacks passing train

Angered by the eviction, the workers allegedly gathered near the tracks on Tuesday night after consuming alcohol. When the Venkatadri Express travelling from Kacheguda to Chittoor passed the station, they pelted stones. One AC coach window was completely shattered in the attack.

Police, alerted after the incident, launched a search for the accused. Family members of some workers were detained near a petrol pump on the outskirts of Nandigama while walking along the railway tracks and were shifted to Shadnagar police station.
