Chorus for Ram Charan’s apology over his visit to dargah in Kadapa

Ram Charan faces backlash over his Kadapa dargah visit

Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Ram Charan’s visit to Ameen Peer Dargah in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, has sparked controversy. The actor is facing severe criticism for visiting a Muslim shrine while wearing traditional all-black attire and sporting an Ayyappa Mala. Devotees claimed that the actor has reportedly broken the spiritual discipline associated with the Mala.

The legal fraternity in Ranga Reddy district condemned the actor’s visit and asked him to remove the Mala and tender an apology to Ayyappa Swami in particular and all the Ayyappa devotees and the Hindu community in general. The lawyers said Charan has insulted the Hindu customs by visiting the dargah wearing the sacred Mala.

Earlier, Telangana Ayyappa JAC demanded a public apology from the RRR actor as the visit had offended the devotees. They wanted to know if the Mozart of Madras AR Rahman would accompany the actor to seek blessings at the Tirupati or Sabarimala temple. They also warned of intensifying their protest if the actor fails to issue a clarification.

Ram Charan’s wife had defended her husband after the photos of the actor’s visit to the dargah had gone viral on social media. Later the actor also visited Durga Devi temple in Kadapa to seek blessings.

“Faith unites, never divides As Indians, we honor all paths to the divine our strength lies in unity. #OneNationOneSpirit #jaihind @AlwaysRamCharan respecting other religions while following his own (sic),” Upasana Konidela tweeted.
