Saroornagar police receive complaint against Rajamouli remarks

HYDERABAD: Members of the Vanara Sena on Wednesday filed a complaint at Saroornagar police station against filmmaker S S Rajamouli, alleging that his recent comments had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.
Group alleges remarks insulted Hanuman
In their complaint, the members said that during the promotional event for his upcoming film Varanasi, Rajamouli made comments about Hanuman that they found objectionable. They said his statements had distressed Hindu devotees.
They also referred to his comments at a recent Globe Trotter event, where he reportedly expressed irritation and said he did not believe in God.
Remarks from childhood anecdote cited
The complainants said that while promoting Varanasi, Rajamouli also recalled a childhood memory of his father telling him that “Hanuman walks behind and guides you.” The Vanara Sena said this remark, too, had offended them.
They urged the police to initiate appropriate action against Rajamouli for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
