Rajiv Rahadari property owners to hold hunger strike on August 11
HYDERABAD: The Rajiv Rahadari Property Owners’ Joint Action Committee has announced a one-day peaceful hunger strike on August 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Ambedkar Statue in Karkhana. The protest is against the Government’s ongoing neglect of property owners and families affected by the planned Rajiv Rahadari Road Widening Project.
First, the JAC raised several concerns about how land officials are acquiring property. Property owners went to the High Court and filed petitions about the road widening and land acquisition. However, the Government has not yet replied to these petitions, while Collectorate officials continue to acquire land. For this reason, the JAC wants the Government to make its position clear and respect the ongoing legal cases.
In addition, the committee also asked why officials continue road widening and land acquisition when they have not finished the Detailed Project Report. The committee demanded that the Government first explain the project, its route, road width, affected properties, and compensation.
Owners allege pressure over compensation
The JAC has also received complaints from property owners. They say Collectorate officials pressured them to accept compensation and warned they may not get anything later if they refuse now. The committee said that such pressure and fear are not acceptable. Everyone must act fairly, legally, and without force.
Furthermore, Telukunta Satish Gupta, Chairman of the Rajiv Rahadari Property Owners’ JAC, said, “They do not oppose the Government or development. However, development should not force people to lose their homes, businesses, or jobs without fair pay.” The JAC wants the Government to give all affected property owners fair compensation, just like Rajiv Rahadari property owners in the Thumkunta area, without discrimination.
The committee also said it will keep protesting peacefully and fairly until it meets its demands and the Government gives fair compensation. If the Government does not respond, the JAC will discuss and announce its next steps during the hunger strike on August 11.
The JAC is using the slogan “One Life — One Property — We Need Justice” for the protest. Telukunta Satish Gupta asked all affected property owners and supporters to join the hunger strike and speak up for their rights.
