HYDERABAD: Transport department officials conducted raids on private travel buses in Rajendranagar on Thursday, cracking down on violations ahead of the Sankranti festival.
Checks at Aramghar junction target overcharging buses
Inspections were carried out at Aramghar junction, where officials found private travel operators allegedly charging passengers excess fares in view of the festival rush.
Services to southern states and Andhra Pradesh under scrutin
Officials checked buses operating from Hyderabad to Kerala, Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.
Five buses booked for rule violations
Cases were registered against five buses for flouting transport norms. The inspections are continuing, officials said.
The special drive is being conducted on the directions of Ranga Reddy district deputy transport officer Sadanandam, with a focused crackdown on private travel buses, officials added.
