Rajendra Nagar Police arrests two notorious chain snatching offenders

HYDERABAD/ RAJENDRA NAGAR: The Crime Staff of Rajendra Nagar Police Station and CCS Rajendra Nagar Zone have jointly apprehended two notorious snatching offenders, Mudavath Pandu and Mudavath Sevya. Both offenders are residents of Gunta Thanda, Pullagiri Village, Thimmajipet Mandal, Nagarkurnool District. The police detected six cases under the jurisdiction of Rajendra Nagar, Shamshabad, and Shadnagar Police Stations. Both offenders committed four snatchings at the same place and time between 7-8 pm at Budwel Bus Stop, Rajendra Nagar, over the past three years. Police recovered six gold chains, weighing about 15 tulas and valued at Rs 11.1 lakhs .

On 16th of this month at 20:30 hours, a woman from Sai Baba Colony, Kismathpur, Gandipet, filed a complaint. She stated that on 16th of this July at about 19:10 hours, two unknown offenders snatched her gold Mangalasutram, weighing about 3.5 Tolas, while she waited at Budwel Bus Stop. The offenders fled into the bushes at Horticulture University, Budwel, Rajendra Nagar. The complainant identified the offenders, leading Rajendra Nagar Police to register a case.

Offenders confess to multiple snatching cases

The accused, Mudavath Pandu, 36, and Mudavath Sevya, 23, are habitual offenders involved in ordinary thefts, housebreaking, and snatching. Pandu has 21 cases against him, including two bodily offenses, five ordinary thefts, two housebreaking thefts, and six snatching cases. Sevya has 18 cases, including two bodily offenses, three housebreaking thefts, and seven snatching cases. Despite previous jail time, both continued their criminal activities in Rajendra Nagar, Shadnagar, and Shamshabad.

On receiving credible information, police apprehended the offenders at their native place. During interrogation, they confessed to other crimes they have committed in the past three years.

The offenders typically commit snatchings on foot. They target lone women waiting at poorly lit bus stops and auto stands between 7 pm and 8 pm. One offender pushes the victim to the ground, while the other snatches the gold chain from the victim’s neck before fleeing.

The investigative team included Detective Inspector Ch. Gangadhar, Inspector of Police N. Sanjay, ASI Abdulla, and PC Vasanth, supervised by SHO Kastro, ACP T. Srinivas, and ACP K. Shashank Reddy. The staff involved in the arrest will receive suitable rewards for their efforts.
