RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: A Telugu couple from Rajamahendravaram, who travelled to Malaysia six months ago in search of employment, has sought government help after allegedly being left without proper jobs.

Venkataramana and Poojita, who have two young children with them, said they were struggling to meet their basic needs in Malaysia after an agent allegedly gave them hope of employment.

The couple said they travelled to Malaysia through Pedagantyada Ramachandra Testing Institute after being assured of employment. However, they alleged that the promised job opportunities did not materialise.

In a video appeal, the couple said they were facing hardships with their children and urged the government to intervene and help them return or find a way out of their difficulties.

The couple’s plight came to the attention of police, who responded to their appeal and spoke to the agent concerned, according to the information available.

Rajamahendravaram is the official name of the city, also commonly known as Rajahmundry.
