Raja Singh criticises CM over Ayyappa Deeksha bar

HYDERABAD: Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh criticised chief minister A Revanth Reddy for not allowing Hindu policemen to observe Ayyappa Deeksha and said rules must apply uniformly to personnel of all communities.
MLA questions denial of permission to SI
He referred to an official letter issued to a sub-inspector of Kanchanbagh police station who sought permission to wear black clothes and grow hair and beard during the Deeksha period. Senior police officers reportedly refused permission and advised the officer to take leave to observe the ritual.
Singh said Muslim inspectors, sub-inspectors and assistant commissioners of police follow roza during Ramzan without restrictions. “In Ramzan, Muslim inspectors, sub-inspectors and ACP observe roza; they are given freedom to do it. Why are there no rules for the Muslim policemen and why only for Hindus?” he asked.
Raja Singh seeks uniform rules across police force
The MLA said Muslim officers are allowed to leave early during Ramzan, observe fast and take breaks. “If the chief minister A Revanth Reddy is serious about maintaining uniformity, he should see that the rules are applied without favouring any religion,” Singh said.
