AP SIT takes Raj Kasireddy into custody at Hyderabad Airport in liquor scam case

Hyderabad: Raj Kasireddy, a key figure under investigation in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam, was taken into custody by the AP Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Shamshabad Airport, on Monday, April 21, 2025.
Raj Kasireddy had flown into Hyderabad from Goa on an Indigo flight and was detained by SIT officers shortly after exiting the airport. He had earlier informed police that he would appear for questioning the following day, but officers, citing concerns that he might not comply, insisted he accompany them immediately. He is expected to be taken to Vijayawada for further investigation.
Earlier, Raj Kasireddy had filed a petition in the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the case. The court did not grant the request and adjourned the hearing for a week. Hours before his detention, Raj Kasireddy released an audio message stating he would cooperate with the investigation.
According to the SIT, Raj Kasireddy had attempted to evade arrest by traveling under the name “Rajesh Reddy.” Learning that police were closing in on him in Goa, he used a fake ID to board a flight to Hyderabad, reportedly in preparation to leave the country. His plan was intercepted by the SIT, leading to his arrest.
