Railway police nabbed drug peddlers smuggling ganja to National capital
Secunderabad: Secunderabad Railway Police Force(RPF) nabbed two drug peddlers, who were smuggling dry ganja to the country’s capital New Delhi, in Secunderabad railway station on Saturday. The Railway police seized around 9 lakhs worth of dry ganja from the accused.
The Railway police identified the accused – Vikesh and Akash Kumar Thakur- both hailing from South Delhi. The accused were nabbed by police while they were conducting surprise checking in view of ongoing elections in the state.
On Saturday morning around Seven o’clock the GRP staff along with TSSP Force 5th BN, RPF conducted a check on platform No.1 of Secunderabad Railway Station. Meanwhile the Police found Vikesh and Akash Kumar Thakur suspiciously moving. When checking two Trolley suitcases police found 34 Kgs of Dry Ganja approximately worth Rs.8.5 lakhs. The police have seized Dry Ganja from their possession and booked a case under Narcotics drugs and psychotropic substance Act(NDPS) Act against the accused at RPS Secunderabad, Said Secunderabad railway police in an official statement.
Contraband bound to New Delhi seized
Investigation revealed that the accused were transporting Dry Ganja from Visakhapatnam to Delhi for selling the same to needy people at a higher price. On Friday the accused boarded the Rajdhani Express train bound to Delhi along with the 34 Kgs of dry ganja at Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh State. The accused were nabbed at Secunderabad Railway station.
Mahesh M Bhagawat, ADGP, Railways and Road Safety, Telangana State appreciated the efforts of the team who nabbed the drug peddlers and stated that they will be rewarded suitably. The police team consisted of B. Sai Eshwar Goud, IRP/Secunderabad, along with D.Ramesh SIRP, and K. Koteshwara Rao, RHC 33, K Chandrashekar, RPC 35,K. Bhavani Shankar RPC 489, B. Harilal, RPC 621, were apprehended the accused persons
