Secunderabad Railway DOM booked for taking bribes in recruitment process: CBI

Hyderabad: On April 29, 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Syed Munvar Basha, Divisional Operations Manager (DOM) at the office of the Principal Chief Operations Manager, South Central Railway, Secunderabad, Telangana, on allegations of corruption.
The case was filed based on a complaint from the Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer (Technical) and Railway Protection Force, South Central Railway, Secunderabad.
The complaint alleges that Syed Munvar Basha demanded bribes from candidates in exchange for their selection to the posts of Traffic Inspectors and Chief Controllers in the Operating Department at the South Central Railway headquarters.
According to the complaint, Syed Munvar Basha received a total of ₹1.25 lakh through UPI transfers into his son’s bank account from four candidates and an additional ₹40,000 in cash from one of them during July and August 2023.
The CBI also found that Syed Munvar Basha and his son had received ₹31.62 lakh in suspicious transactions, which appear disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Searches were carried out at Syed Munvar Basha’s premises, two in Solapur, and one each in Hyderabad and Guntakal, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents. The investigation is ongoing.
