Raidurgam police stop racing car, constable injured

HYDERABAD: A constable was injured after a car allegedly driven by a youth involved in illegal racing sped towards him in Raidurgam’s Knowledge City area late on Saturday night.
According to Raidurgam Inspector CH Venkanna, police received information that a group of youngsters were creating a nuisance by racing vehicles on roads near T-Hub, My Home Bhooja and Niloufer Hotel in Knowledge City.
Constable hurt while trying to stop speeding vehicle
Constable Ramesh and Home Guard Krishna, who were on duty, reached the spot and noticed a Honda City car speeding through the area while making loud noises.
The two personnel attempted to stop the vehicle. However, the driver did not halt and continued at speed. During the attempt, the front portion of the car struck Ramesh’s right hand, causing injuries.
Police intercept car after brief chase
Police immediately pursued the vehicle and blocked its path using a patrol vehicle before bringing it to a halt. The occupants were taken into custody.
Police identified the driver as Mohammed Rehwan, 18, a resident of Ferozguda Gandhi Nagar in Mehdipatnam. His friends Owasis, Ayan and Wasim were also travelling in the car.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
A video showing police chasing and intercepting the vehicle later went viral on social media.
