Consumption of drugs to underage alcohol, raids at Hyderabad pubs reveal violations
Hyderabad : The recent raids by the Telangana Excise department in five major pubs in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts has revealed shocking violations by the management. From serving alcohol to underage consumers to more than ten people finding positive for the drugs at various pubs, multiple violations were revealed.
As per the details provided by the Excise Department and Telangana Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB), they have conducted joint raids based on intelligence inputs. These raids were conducted on September 6, 2024 at five pubs including, Nicos, Babylon and Illuzion at Jubilee Hills and Whiskey in Madhapur and Quorum Club, Knowledge City. These simultaneous raids were conducted from around 11:00pm to 1:00pm in the targeted uphill areas in the city.
Violations at Quorum Club in Knowledge City
At the Quorum club in Knowledge city, a person aged 20 years old was served alcohol, while the legal age for the consumption of alcohol is 21 years old. Further, at the Quorum, two of the visitors, including the DJ Manager were also found consuming drugs. The duo were tested using the drug detection kits and were found to be positive.
Violations at Jubilee Hills clubs
Further individuals were also found to be consuming drugs at the pubs in Jubilee Hills at the Babylon pub.They were also tested using the drug detection kits.
Over all, the persons who were tested positive for the drugs include, Chinna Nigesh from Warangal, Ravi Kumar from Srikakulam, Keshav Rao from Moosapet, Abdul Rahim from Charminar.
How the drug detection kits aided the operation
The advanced drug detection kits employed by the excise department and the TGNAB have yielded positive results, saving the team time for the team. The drug tests results, which usually takes more than a month to come, after sending samples to the forensic laboratories, now the results would be live within 2-5 minutes. Reportedly, the kits can identify and detect consumption of at least 27 types of drugs.
