Rachakonda Police introduce Body Worn Cameras to improve traffic enforcement

Listen to Story

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Traffic Police have introduced body-worn cameras (BWCs) for enforcement officers to improve transparency, accountability, and professionalism. Officers will wear these cameras while on duty, recording interactions with the public and providing an objective record of events.

The initiative aims to reduce disputes and complaints by documenting all interactions between officers and the public. The recorded footage will serve as reliable evidence in cases of traffic violations, disputes, or investigations.

The use of BWCs is expected to foster accountability and encourage officers to maintain high standards of conduct, ultimately improving public trust in the police. Citizens can feel assured that their interactions with enforcement officers are being recorded, enhancing fairness in traffic enforcement.

Fifty body-worn cameras have been distributed to all Sub-Inspectors and Inspectors in the Rachakonda Traffic Division.

G. Sudheer Babu, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, launched the camera rollout at the CP Office in Neredmet. Senior officials, including V. Sreenivasulu, DCP Traffic-2, S. Malla Reddy, DCP Traffic-1, A. Ramana Reddy, DCP SOT-1, K. Muralidhar, DCP SOT-2, and other traffic officers, attended the event.

G. Sudheer Babu, said, “The introduction of body-worn cameras is an important step in modernizing traffic enforcement and strengthening trust between the police and the public. We are committed to using technology to make our roads safer and ensure greater transparency.”
