Private buses booked for 13,934 violations in Rachakonda

HYDERABAD: A review by the Rachakonda Commissionerate has revealed that 13,934 challans were issued to private buses between January 2023 and October 24, 2025, for various traffic violations including unauthorised entry, wrong parking and signal jumping.
Officials said most private buses operate from key pickup points such as Dilsukhnagar, Saroornagar, LB Nagar and Pallavi Gardens in Vanasthalipuram for services towards Vijayawada, while those bound for Nagarjuna Sagar start from Sagar Road. These stretches, especially between Dilsukhnagar and LB Nagar, often witness congestion due to buses halting on carriageways during peak hours.
Traffic congestion worsens at key junctions
The review found that buses frequently stop in the middle of roads narrowed by metro pillars, obstructing regular traffic and creating safety hazards. Enforcement data shows a consistent rise in penalties: 2,898 challans in 2023, 5,431 in 2024, and 5,605 so far in 2025.
No-entry and parking violations top list
In 2025 alone, 1,779 cases were booked for entering no-entry zones, followed by 1,071 for wrong parking and 774 for unauthorised or obstructive parking. Another 303 drivers were penalised for not wearing the prescribed uniform.
A senior official from the traffic wing said, “We are stepping up monitoring at major boarding points to ensure buses comply with entry restrictions and parking norms. Strict action will continue against violators.”
