Rachakonda police foil interstate drug smuggling attempt, seize 60 kg ganja
LB Nagar: Rachakonda police busted an interstate drug racket and seized 60 kgs of ganja being smuggled to Bangalore from Andhra Pradesh on Friday.
In a joint operation, the sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT), Maheshwaram, along with the Yacharam police, have successfully apprehended two interstate drug peddlers involved in the transportation of Ganja. The arrested accused persons were identified as Korra Babu Rao and Burundi Kameshwar Rao. Further manhunt is launched against four other accused who are absconding- Shaik Masthan Wali, Duddu Mallesheshwar Rao, Srinivas Naidu, and Girish.
According to Rachakonda police, Korra Babu Rao alias Srinu hailing from Alluri Sitharamaraju district, Andhra Pradesh State, he has been doing agriculture for his survival, he acquainted with his relative Burundi Kameshwar Rao for the last 5 years, as the earnings from agriculture works are not sufficient to their family needs and they have been engaged in selling of small quantity of Ganja to innocent needy people and earning easy money.
Meanwhile, one of his friends Girish from Bangalore and also engaged in selling Ganja contacted them and placed an order of 60 Kgs Ganja, offered Rs.10,000/Kg. Following which the accused Korra Babu Rao and Burundi Kameshwar Rao agreed to the proposal.
“As per their plan on Aug 20, (Tuesday) they arranged 60 Kgs Ganja through another accused Shaik Masthan Wali and Duddu Malleshwar Rao. Subsequently hired Srinivas Naidu for the transportation of huge amounts of Ganja. On Aug 21(Wednesday) the accused started to Bangalore along with Ganja bags in a car and choose a route via Khammam, Mirylaguda, Mallepally and Yacharam on Nagarjuna Sagar HighWay (SH-19) to avoid police checking’s,” said Rachakonda police in an official statement.
Two arrested, four absconding in drug bust
On Aug 22 (Thursday) on a tip off the sleuths of SOT, Maheshwaram Zone team along with Yacharam Police intercepted the car at Mall inter district check post, Yacharam Mandal, Ranga Reddy district, apprehended Korra Babu Rao and Burundi Kameshwar Rao and seized the 60 KGs of Ganja, Mobile Phones, Car from their possession. The accused, Sheikh Mastan Wali and Duddu Malleswara Rao, escaped from the scene.
The main source / mediators and receiver are absconding. Efforts are afoot to apprehend the absconding accused.
Rachakonda police appeal to the people and students that procuring, selling, transportation and consumption of the banned Narcotics substances and drugs is a crime and punishable for imprisonment for a period of 10 years and also death, according to Section 31A of the NDPS Act. Further requests the society to help police in curbing this menace.
