Rachakonda police recover 1,016 stolen mobiles worth Rs 3 crores

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police, under the guidance of Commissioner G Sudheer Babu, have successfully recovered 1,016 stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs 3 crore in just one month. Special teams from the CCS and IT Cell utilized the Central Equipment Identity Registry (CEIR) Portal to track down the devices.

The phones were recovered across various locations, with the largest number coming from LB Nagar (655 phones), followed by Malkajgiri (290), and Bhongir (71). This recovery is part of a larger effort by Rachakonda Police, who have recovered around 1,400 mobile phones so far this year, using the CEIR portal.

Commissioner G Sudheer Babu handed over the recovered devices to their rightful owners, today. He interacted with them and gathered feedback on the police’s efforts in this regard. The owners expressed their gratitude for the timely recovery of their phones and praised the police’s work.

The Commissioner also urged the public to safeguard the personal information stored on their mobile devices. He stressed that buying or selling stolen phones is a criminal offense and advised citizens to verify the source of any mobile device before purchase.

Further, Commissioner Sudheer Babu commended the efforts of V. Aravind Babu, DCP Crimes, Karuna Sagar, ACP Crimes, and the special teams, including CCS and IT Cell officers, for their dedication to the recovery process. He instructed them to continue their efforts to tackle mobile phone thefts.

The public is also reminded to protect their mobile phones while traveling, particularly in crowded areas. Using strong passwords, enabling the “Find My Device” feature, and regularly backing up data are recommended to prevent data loss. In case of theft or loss, citizens are urged to report it immediately at the nearest police station or through the CEIR portal, which is available nationwide.
