Safety and Security Measures at Uppal Cricket Stadium for TATA IPL 2024
HYDERABAD: The 17th Edition of the TATA IPL 2024 cricket matches will commence on March 27 and April 5, 2024, featuring night matches at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. The stadium boasts a seating capacity of approximately 39,000.
To ensure the smooth running of the TATA IPL 2024 cricket matches and to prevent any untoward incidents, a series of unprecedented measures have been implemented at the Uppal Cricket Stadium.
Elaborate arrangements have been made to guarantee the safety and security of players and spectators for TATA IPL-2024. These include coordination with various wings such as the security wing, traffic division (300), law and order (918), TSSP/AR force (12 platoons), Octopus (2 teams), Mounted Police (10), Vajra (10), and other units like SB, CCS staff, SOT, and 4 fire tenders with firefighting squads. Approximately 2,800 police personnel have been deployed for security.
Gate No.1 is exclusively for players, with other gates designated for spectators according to their ticketing. An evacuation plan is in place for any emergency situations.
A total of 360 CCTV cameras are being installed in and around the stadium, including at vehicle checkpoints and parking areas, to cover the entire premises and surrounding areas.
A Joint Command & Control Room has been established to monitor all CCTV footage for immediate action. Anti-sabotage checks, conducted by B.D. teams, will continue round the clock until the matches conclude.
Effective communication systems have been implemented, with VHF sets allocated to every Sub-Inspector and above rank for quick response. Additionally, a control room has been set up.
Scanners installed at the stadium will enable police and security personnel to detect explosives and prohibited items.
Bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs are deployed to ensure safety within the stadium and parking areas. Separate teams are assigned to monitor the movements of antisocial elements.
Mobile technicians are stationed at each gate to check spectators’ mobile phones.
Additional security arrangements, including Octopus and NGS teams, have been deployed round the clock within and around the stadium. Mounted police forces are stationed at specific gates for effective security.
Certain items, such as laptops, banners, water bottles, cameras, cigarettes, and sharp objects, are prohibited from being carried into the stadium. A separate SHE Teams/Anti-Eve-Teasing team has been established to address harassment issues.
Vendor supervising teams have been established to regulate vendors and their rates. Supervisory teams are also in place to monitor police officers’ movements.
The antecedents of personnel engaged by sponsors/vendors are thoroughly checked, and passes with photos are issued to them. Exchange of accreditation cards is strictly prohibited.
Adequate signage boards have been erected at various locations to guide viewers to the stadium easily.
Parking is prohibited on the main road from Genpact to Uppal Ring Road and Uppal Ring Road to Vishal Mart, Ramanthapur. Vehicles must be parked in prescribed TSIIC parking areas.
Gates will open three hours before the scheduled match time. Ambulance services have been increased from 3 to 5 to cater to the spectators’ medical needs.
Four fire engines will be on standby for fire incidents, ensuring public safety. Special teams will monitor and prevent the sale of black tickets outside the stadium.
Signage boards have been placed at major roads from Habsiguda to Uppal, L.B. Nagar to Uppal, Medipally to Uppal, and Ramanthapur to the stadium for easy navigation.
Sufficient parking spaces for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers have been identified, ensuring smooth traffic flow during match days.…
