Rachakonda sees four percent rise in crimes against women

HYDERABAD: Crimes against women in the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate limits rose by four percent in 2025, police statistics showed.
Addressing the annual press meet on Monday, G. Sudheer Babu, Commissioner of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate, said cases of dowry deaths, abduction, sexual harassment and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had increased compared with 2024.
Overall crime, disposal rate
He said 26,852 cases were registered in 2025, of which 21,056 were solved, resulting in a 78 percent disposal rate. Police also made 6,188 preventive arrests and registered 3,734 cybercrime cases during the year.
The commissioner said visible policing, quicker response, monitoring of history-sheeters and arrests of potential offenders led to a 15 percent drop in property crimes. A total of 4,121 non-bailable warrants were executed, earning the commissionerate a “zero NBW” status.
Convictions and special cases
Police secured 31 life sentences against 55 accused, ranking first in Telangana, he said. Courts also awarded 20-year jail terms in 12 cases. In a sensational murder case under the Addugudur police station limits, 17 accused were sentenced to life imprisonment in a single case.
Through Lok Adalats, police disposed of 13,062 FIR-related cases and 44,742 e-petty cases, the commissioner said.
