Rachakonda Constable’s Family Donates Organs

Uppal: In a touching display of humanity amid tragedy, the family of Police Constable Peddolla Prashanth Reddy, who was declared brain-dead following a road accident, have donated his organs to help save other lives.

According to the Rachakonda police, an unknown vehicle hit Reddy on December 28. He served at Kandukur Police Station under Rachakonda Police commissionerate. He was returning home from duty.

After sustaining severe head injuries in the 10 PM accident, Reddy was rushed to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet for treatment. Despite medical intervention, he passed away on Saturday. In a rare act of kindness, his family decided to donate his kidneys and liver through the Jeevandan organ donation programme.

Reddy’s father, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector, and his wife, Soumya, supported the organ donation decision. They showed great strength and compassion in their grief.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu praised the family’s brave decision, made amid their grief. “Those who donate organs continue to live on, even after physical death,” Commissioner Babu remarked, emphasizing the profound impact of organ donation in giving new life to others. He assured that the department would provide full support to Reddy’s family.

The police department sanctioned Rs 90,000 for Reddy’s funeral expenses, which took place in Uppal on Sunday. Maheshwaram ACP Lakmikantha Reddy represented the Commissioner at the funeral. He paid his respects to the deceased officer. Various police officials attended the ceremony, including Kandukuru Inspector Seetharam, Rachakonda Police Officers Association President CH Bhadra Reddy, and Rachakonda Cooperative Society Director Suvarna, along with Reddy’s colleagues and batchmates.
