Junior Assistant at Quthbullapur Tahsil office caught in ACB trap for ₹20,000 bribe

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Junior Assistant and in-charge Grama Paalana Officer at the Quthbullapur Tahsil office in Medchal–Malkajgiri district while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 on March 2, 2026.
The accused officer, G. Ganesh, who works as a Village Revenue Officer (VRO), allegedly demanded ₹20,000 from a complainant to process and issue a family member certificate. According to ACB officials, he had already taken ₹5,000 as an initial payment earlier.
Subsequently, on March 2, Ganesh allegedly accepted ₹15,000 as part payment of the remaining bribe amount, prompting the ACB City Range-I unit to lay a trap and catch him red-handed. Officials recovered the tainted ₹15,000 from his possession.
ACB officials stated that Ganesh misused his official position and acted dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Following the trap, authorities arrested him and will produce him before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. Meanwhile, investigators have taken up further probe into the case.
However, officials have withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons.
In addition, the ACB has urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants. People can call the toll-free number 1064 or lodge complaints through WhatsApp at 9440446106, Facebook (Telangana ACB), and X (@TelanganaACB). The bureau assured that it will keep the identity of complainants confidential.
