HYDERABAD: PV Sindhu’s reply to filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli’s congratulatory post after her historic Japan Open title win has gone viral, triggering speculation about a possible film appearance.

Congratulating Sindhu on X, Rajamouli wrote: “You created history as the first Indian to win the Japan Open. What a comeback. Congratulations, Sindhu. The country is proud of you.”
Responding to the post, Sindhu said: “Thank you, Rajamouli sir. I am eagerly waiting for Varanasi. If there is ever a badminton player’s role in any of your films, I would be happy to make my acting debut,” adding laughing emojis.
Reply sparks discussion on acting debut
Sindhu’s response has since gone viral on social media, with users discussing whether the badminton star could soon make her film debut.
This is not the first time Rajamouli has received such a request from a sportsperson. Earlier, former Australia cricketer David Warner, known for posting dance videos to Telugu film songs on social media, had expressed interest in working with the filmmaker. Rajamouli had also sent Warner a Baahubali crown.

As for Varanasi, Rajamouli’s upcoming film is in the final phase of production. The makers are targeting completion of shooting by October, with the film scheduled for release on April 7, 2027
