Former MLA Putta Madhu at Ramagundam Police Commissionerate for CBI questioning in Vaman Rao murder case

HYDERABAD: Putta Madhu, former MLA from Manthani, and his wife Shailaja appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday in the case relating to the murder of High Court advocates Gattu Vaman Rao and Nagamani.

CBI questions couple for three hours

CBI officers questioned the couple at the Ramagundam Police Commissionerate office from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. After the hearing, Madhu spoke to reporters and said they answered every question put to them by the agency. He said he had complete faith in the law and the courts.

‘Our names were added due to political pressure’

Madhu said that after the murder, Vaman Rao’s father Kishan Rao had not spoken about them anywhere. “He later came under pressure and our names were added to the case only to suppress us politically,” he said. He added that Kishan Rao did not have the financial means to approach the Supreme Court and alleged that he went there only with the support of Sridhar Babu.

‘Why drag us if my nephew is the accused?’

Madhu questioned why he and his wife were being named in the case. “If my nephew Srinu had any link with the case, why were we dragged into it?” he asked.

‘Sridhar Babu must answer on Madhukar murder case’

He said the earlier Manthani Madhukar murder case was pending before the High Court and alleged that Congress leaders close to Sridhar Babu were named in that case. “That is why the case has not come out,” he said.

‘Political rivals want to corner us’

He alleged that the case was being used to ensure that there were no political rivals in Manthani. He said he and his wife were being projected as guilty in society despite doing public service. He added that he was being targeted because he came from a backward-classes background.
