Hyderabad: Protests erupted in Hyderabad after two intermediate students ended their lives on Monday. The tragic incidents occurred at two different colleges – Bachupally and Pocharam.

According to reports, the students allegedly took extreme steps due to harassment and immense pressure from their respective college managements.

These incidents have sparked protests from family members and students, who gathered outside the colleges demanding answers about the suspicious deaths.

In the first incident, a first-year MPC student at Impulse College in Pragathinagar, Bachupally, was found dead in her hostel. The deceased, a native of Nizamabad district, did not attend her classes in the morning. A staff member went to check her room and found her lifeless body, according to Bachupally police.

She was rushed to a hospital but the doctors declared her brought dead. The parents have filed a complaint with the police, alleging the harassment by the college management led to her death.

The second incident involves a first year MPC student from Narayana College in Annojiguda, Pocharam. The 16-year-old was found dead in the college bathroom. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Subsequently, his body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for a postmortem.

Enraged family members barged into the college premises, damaging the furniture. It is reported that the Pocharam IT corridor police prevented a self-immolation bid by one of the relatives. Subsequently, the family members and student organisations staged a sit-in outside the college demanding justice for them. The protest caused mild tension in the area. Meanwhile, the Pocharam IT corridor police are investigating.
