Police Escort Accused In Kondapalli Pregnant Woman Murder Case Telangana

HYDERABAD: Police arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly murdering a seven-month pregnant tribal woman in the forests of Kondapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal.

Kagaznagar DSP Waheeduddin said the accused, Kerkari Jalapathi from Jaihindpur, killed 25-year-old Athram Sammakka on Saturday evening.

Assault and suffocation in forest area

Police said Jalapathi took Sammakka to a secluded spot in the village forest. He allegedly punched her on the temple and then smothered her to death.

Sammakka, a resident of Kondapalli, was seven months pregnant.

Accused reveals motive

During questioning, Jalapathi admitted to the crime. He told police that Sammakka had been pressuring him to marry her.

Police said he fled to Maharashtra after the murder. Officers later tracked him down and arrested him.

They booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder and under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

A court remanded him to judicial custody.
