Prakash Raj flags deletion of his name from voter list
HYDERABAD : Actor Prakash Raj has alleged that his name was removed from the voter list in Bengaluru, where he said he was born and brought up.
In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Raj said he was among the 65 lakh people who had lost their voting rights following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
“Sir, I am one of those 65 lakh people who have lost their right to vote. Nice joke… game on,” he said in the video.
Raj said he was born and brought up in the constituency and had completed his schooling and college education there. He added that he had also spent his entire film career in Bengaluru.
Raj questions process to restore his voting rights
Recalling that he had contested the Lok Sabha election from the same constituency, Raj questioned what process he would now have to complete to regain his voting rights after his name was removed from the electoral roll.
“How many people are you going to deprive of their right to vote like this?” he asked.
“You may remove the voting rights of some people who do not vote for you. But can you stop us? We will not sleep until we bring you down,” Raj said.
Raj has a strong following in Telugu cinema and is also known for his political views.
Actor recently got bail in voter ID case
Raj is also facing allegations related to holding voter registrations in multiple states. A Bengaluru court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him in June in a case alleging that he was enrolled as a voter in multiple constituencies. He was later granted bail in the case.
