Pragathi Nagar Waterlogging

Hyderabad: The recent heavy rains have plunged Pragathi Nagar into an alarming waterlogging crisis, leaving its residents in distress. The resulting traffic congestion and potholes have only compounded the problem. The residents are demanding a permanent solution to avoid traffic jams and waterlogging.

While speaking with Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, a social activist, addressed the perennial issue of waterlogging in Hyderabad, specifically in the Pragathi Nagar area falling under the Nizampet Municipal Corporation.

Sai Teja said that despite recent efforts by the authorities to address the issue by constructing a drainage line and elevating the road, these measures have resulted in water stagnation at a specific location. Teja identified a nearby manhole as a key factor contributing to the problem and urged the relevant department to promptly address this by opening the manhole whenever it rains. He further emphasized that doing so would quickly resolve the waterlogging issue, thus mitigating traffic congestion. Teja pointed out that failing to do this resulted in a three-hour traffic jam at Pragathi Nagar.

Srinivas Bellam, an IT professional and Social Activist, recounted an incident where, due to the Bakrid festival, he utilized his holiday to invest three and a half hours in managing and alleviating a significant traffic jam. Meanwhile, he promptly communicated with the Commissioner in an attempt to address the issue and urged swift deployment of teams to the location for resolution. Regrettably, there was no response from the team despite the urgent request.

Sai Teja emphasized the need for higher authorities to address this issue promptly, advocating for immediate action whenever such circumstances arise.

Srinivas Bellam took to β€˜X’ and posted, β€œDear @MC_Nizampet, please help with permanent fix @cdmatelangana @TelanganaCS at Godavari cuts Pragathi Nagar Even after more than 12 hours, the water still remains stagnant, and next to it, we have a bakery and a small hotel.
