Nizampet’s Pragathi Nagar residents frustrated over ongoing water pipeline breakages

Hyderabad: Residents of Pragathi Nagar in Nizampet are growing increasingly frustrated as the local water pipeline has broken for the third time in recent weeks, causing significant water wastage. Despite multiple repairs, the issue persists, and residents are calling for a permanent solution.
Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, a local resident, voiced his concerns, stating, “The pipeline in Pragathi Nagar has broken for the third time, and each time, water is being wasted. This isn’t the first incident. Just two weeks ago, it was repaired, and now it’s broken again. I raised a complaint with HMWSSB, and while they acknowledged it, no permanent solution has been implemented yet.”
Teja highlighted the broader implications of the issue, particularly as summer approaches. “Water is being wasted on the roads, causing inconvenience to commuters. It’s dangerous for vehicles, especially motorcycles, and it’s also affecting the availability of drinking water. We are urged to conserve water during the summer, but how can we do that when it’s being wasted like this?”
He added that intervention from higher authorities, including Telangana’s Chief Minister, could help resolve the issue permanently. “If Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally addresses the matter, it might get fixed for good,” Teja suggested.
The issue was also raised on social media, with Teja posting about the water wastage on X (formerly Twitter). His post highlighted the ongoing problem at Neeladri Apartment on Pragathi Nagar Main Road, where drinking water continues to be wasted despite multiple complaints to HMWSSB. He tagged the Telangana Chief Minister and several relevant HMWSSB officials, expressing frustration over the lack of action.
In response, HMWSSB acknowledged the complaint, saying, “Good evening, sir. Thank you for sharing the details. Complaint with token no 6656 has been registered and forwarded to the concerned Section Manager for resolution.”
Despite this response, Teja remained skeptical, questioning the effectiveness of the repeated complaints. “It seems HMWSSB is least bothered about the water crisis. Do they even realize how crucial it is to preserve water, especially before summer?” he remarked.
Another resident also expressed frustration, asking HMWSSB, “How many tickets will you raise for the same issue?”
Residents are urging the authorities to act swiftly to address the problem and ensure that the pipeline is repaired permanently, before the water wastage becomes a larger issue heading into the summer months.
