Pragathi Nagar residents demand action on deteriorating road conditions in Nizampet

Hyderabad: Residents of Pragathi Nagar are expressing frustration over the poor condition of local roads, which large potholes have plagued for several months. The main road connecting Pragathi Nagar to Bachupally, near Godavari Cuts, often becomes flooded and congested during rains, creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes. This area falls under the jurisdiction of the Nizampet Municipality Corporation, and residents are urging the authorities to intervene and lay a new road.
While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, a resident and social activist, said, “The concern is about the pathetic road conditions in the Nizampet Municipality Corporation. This road is the main route connecting Pragathi Nagar to Bachupally, making commuting difficult. Traveling on rainy days is particularly challenging.”
Sai Teja added, “We, the residents, have been urging the Nizampet Municipality Corporation to take necessary action to repair the pothole-ridden roads in Pragathi Nagar for several months, but no action has been taken. We are facing numerous problems due to these potholes, which cause water stagnation during rains, leading to floods, traffic jams, and increased mosquito breeding. Sometimes, it even results in accidents.”
He further noted, “This situation is particularly problematic near Godavari Cuts. When we spoke to the Monsoon Emergency Team via a phone call, their response was alarming, stating, ‘Water will go in one hour by itself, sir.”
Sai Teja also took to ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) to highlight the civic issue, saying, “This is the condition of the road in front of Godavari Cuts in #PragathiNagar as of April. Authorities told me they would address it once the election code was over, but nothing has happened. The situation is deteriorating day by day.”
