Residents of Pragathi Nagar appeal for quick fix to road blockage and pothole danger

Hyderabad: Residents of Pragathi Nagar, Nizampet, have raised concerns about a barricade blocking half of the road near Canara Bank, causing traffic jams during peak hours. The barricade, which has been in place for over a month, is positioned in front of a large pothole. The community has requested the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) officials to remove the barricade and address the pothole.
Sai Teja, a local resident, shared with Hyderabad Mail, “The barricade is blocking half of the road, which causes slow traffic movement. There are also safety concerns, as drivers may not spot the barricade at night, leading to possible accidents.” He added that despite multiple reports to HMWSSB and awareness efforts on social media platforms, no action has been taken so far. “This is a potential hazard, and it’s worrying that no one seems to be addressing the issue,” Sai Teja said.

The barricade was placed to alert drivers about the large pothole ahead, which had been dug up for unknown reasons. However, residents say that while the barricade was meant to warn motorists, the pothole itself has not been repaired. They are urging officials to either fix the pothole or remove the barricade and provide a temporary solution.
Bellam Srinivas also voiced his concerns on social media, saying, “The negligence of @HMWSSBOnline is blocking half of the road, causing traffic jams during both morning and evening hours near Canara Bank, Godavari Cuts, Pragathi Nagar.”
Another resident, Sai Teja, highlighted the dangers the barricade poses, particularly during the night, calling it a potential risk for road accidents.
