Hyderabad: Residents of Pragathi Nagar in Nizampet have raised concerns about significant water wastage on the roads near Suraksha Hospital. Brahmaiah Tallam (@BtallamTallam) first reported the issue on social media and urged the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to address the problem promptly.

Brahmaiah Tallam posted, “Dear HMWSSB, plenty of water has been overflowing on Pragathi Nagar roads since morning. Please act immediately and save the water, save the environment. Location: In front of Suraksha Hospital,” tagging the relevant authorities, including @HMWSSBOnline, @MC_Medchal, @MC_Nizampet, and @GHMCOnline.

In response, HMWSSB acknowledged the issue, stating, “Good evening, sir. A complaint with token number 5109 has been registered and informed to the concerned PRAGATHINAGAR section manager. We will rectify it as soon as possible. Thank you.”

Despite this, residents like Sai Teja expressed frustration over the repeated occurrences of the problem. Sai Teja told Hyderabad Mail, “The same issue has been reported to HMWSSB since yesterday morning.”

Earlier, Sai Teja said, “This was the third time the pipeline has broken recently, and each time water is wasted. It was repaired just two weeks ago, but now it’s broken again. I raised the complaint with HMWSSB, but no permanent solution has been found yet.”

Teja highlighted the urgency of the issue, especially as summer approaches. “Water wastage on the roads is creating inconvenience for commuters, especially motorcyclists. It’s also affecting the availability of drinking water. We are being urged to conserve water during the summer, but it’s difficult when it’s being wasted like this.”

This marks the fourth instance of pipeline failure in Pragathi Nagar in recent weeks, with no long-term resolution in sight. Residents are calling on HMWSSB to take permanent action to fix the issue.

Hyderabad residents facing similar water and sewerage issues can contact HMWSSB at 155313 or 040-23300114, or reach out through their social media platforms. Concerns related to civic infrastructure can be directed to the GHMC via their official X handle (@GHMCOnline).
